Throughout my life, I’ve played multiple sports from soccer to basketball to jiu-jitsu. However, I settled on the sport I liked the most - fencing. When I started fencing in a trial class, I didn’t enjoy it very much. It was tiring, difficult, and confusing.
But I eventually started to view fencing in a different way. I started looking at it as something that would train my muscles, my brain, my reaction speed, and make me a better athlete overall. Very few sports start off with straightaway passion. In fact, many elite athletes do many different sports before deciding on one. You may dislike it at first, but if you look at it in a certain way, it may be something you can become addicted to.
Interesting trivia: According to (Kratz, 2023), the fencing tip is the second fastest object in all of sports, measured at more than 100 mph (160 kph). The only object that is quicker than a fencer’s blade tip is the bullet shot from a gun, so when you see Olympic level fencing blade moving fast, they could be moving almost bullet fast.
